Tramontana and air conditioning: where to put the outdoor unit
Strong wind is common in the Empordà. A good location and a solid fixing avoid problems.
Secure fixing
The outdoor unit must sit on a solid wall or a bracket that prevents vibration and carries its weight well. Manufacturers ask for it to be fixed securely with easy access for future servicing.
Free air discharge
Hot air must be able to leave easily, with nothing blocking it. If the unit faces the prevailing wind, it is worth considering a more sheltered position during the visit.
If you are also near the sea
Placing it behind the building or a wall protects it from wind and salty breeze.
A simple habit
Check the fixing and bracket every year, especially after episodes of strong wind.
